Headlamp Replacement
Clear Vision Ahead: Understanding Vehicle Headlamp Replacement
Did you know a faulty headlamp can result in failing an entire safety inspection? Yes, it's that important. Replacing a headlamp as soon as you experience an issue is crucial. Driving without a working headlight in the dark endangers you and others.
Whether you just need a bulb replaced or the whole headlamp, the technicians at A&A Tires & Truck Center have your back. We can repair or replace your headlamp so you can be on your way safely.

What Does the Headlamp Contain?
The headlamp assembly contains several bulbs, each serving its unique purpose, lenses, and housing. Everything, including bulbs, lenses, and reflective backdrops, is included in the housing.
Automotive lighting on the front typically includes parking lights, low beams, high beams, turn signals, and fog lights. Each light must be in its designated spot, and the bulb must be compatible with the vehicle.
Some vehicles feature multiple housings for headlights, such as separate housing for fog lights.
As for bulbs, vehicles usually feature three types: LED, HID (xenon), or halogen.
Most stock headlamps feature LED lights, which are the cheapest and most energy-efficient. Halogen and xenon lights are brighter than LEDs. Whether you want halogen or HID headlight replacement after using LED is a personal choice.
At A&A Tires & Truck Center, we offer LED headlight replacements, halogen headlight replacements, and xenon headlight replacements. We can also install aftermarket headlights with better quality and more lumens.
Common Issues With the Headlamp
Here are the common problems you may face with a car headlamp.
Uneven Light (Left to Right or Vice Versa)
When driving in the dark, both headlamps must illuminate. If you're seeing uneven light, with one side brighter, chances are a bulb or fuse has burnt out. A faulty wire can also cause this.
Our A&A Tires & Truck Center technician can inspect the headlamp to find the issue. In most cases, a headlight bulb replacement is all that's needed.
Flickering Light
A flickering light is usually a sign that the bulb is about to die. However, it can also be caused by a bad fuse, improper wiring, or voltage fluctuations. Don't wait — bring your vehicle to A&A Tires & Truck Center for a quick fix.
Hazy/Dim Light
If your headlights are hazy or dim, it's probably because dust has accumulated in the housing. The headlamp requires a good cleaning from the inside, not just the outside. Our technicians can clean and buff your headlamps and return that sparkle they had on day one.
However, if the headlights are still hazy after the headlamp service, you may need a headlamp replacement.
Adaptive Headlights Issues
Adaptive headlights are not fixed like traditional headlights and move to illuminate the desired area, such as when steering. However, these lights can also develop the issues above and more.
If these lights aren't functioning correctly, have them inspected by our expert vehicle electricians. The control module may be the culprit.
Damaged Headlamp: Repair or Replace?
If you were in a head-on collision, your headlamp is likely damaged. Whether headlight restoration is possible depends on the extent of the damage. If the headlamp housing is damaged, you'll need to replace the front headlight.
You'll need OEM headlight parts or aftermarket ones, whichever you prefer. If only one headlamp was damaged, make sure your choice matches the other one.
On the other hand, if the damage is minimal, we can use a special kit to restore the headlight.
Our technicians can assess the damage and provide their professional opinion on restoration.
How Long Do Headlights Last?
You don't have to wait for your vehicle headlights to die to replace them. Know the typical lifespan of the lights in your headlamp:
- Halogen headlights: 450 to 1,000 hours
- HID headlights: 2,000 to 8,000 hours
- LED headlights: 30,000 to 50,000 hours
Timely car light maintenance can ensure the bulbs are replaced on time. At A&A Tires & Truck Center, we inspect headlights during routine maintenance to detect any issues early on.
